Minute 18 and forward.....I finally found my design to copy! My Harbor Freight 42" bolt cutters handles already are in the trash. I'm looking for a used hydraulic cylinder and hand pump on the cheap. I'll come across some 1" plate steel and using a 4 1/2 " grinder and tons of cut off wheels i'll make all the other parts. What an awesome tool to have when you need to cut thick chain or serious pad locks! I fojund a high end toolcompany that gets between 2 and 10 THOUSAND for nice pretty ones.Screw that!!!!

We call them the Jaws of life. As they're an emergency rescue tool that is primarily used to save people from car accidents in mangled cars or where the perosn cannot be removed through the door, and has to be removed through the roof. They're good because they produce no sparks, aren't noisy, and don't put the person you're tryig to save in even more danger, like other tools wood, i.e. those big metal cutting saws.

You do some awesome work. I wish I could work with you and lean how to do the old way of machining, not the new cnc way nothing wrong with CNC it does what it was designed to do mass production. But what your doing makes you use you mind and is more hands on.

you should mill some gripper grooves on the inside and outside of the spreader jaws so it is less likely to slip under pressure. and invest in a powder coating system and oven... rattle can has a place but you're a pro and pros use better paints.

Cut some lines in the spreader tips, with some knurling. I worked with a rescue squad with these type of tools, and the lines/knurling, will give you better grip and less slip.

And on the Jaws that you made for spreading open and gripping things, you should have put grooves on the inside and outside to help stop slippage, you know, make like teeth!

You have the cutting jaws binding, you can clearly see that they are causing the cutters to overlap with one another, which isn't supposed to happen. The cutting edges should meet together flat and in line with each other, not overlapping each other. Otherwise great job! I've subscribed to your channel, you make a lot of cool things!
